SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM

2001 Tactical Competition

On September 29, 2001 the SRT held a tactical team competition which consisted of room clearing, firearms proficiency and a timed run of the obstacle course.  Nine teams from across Ohio competed in the one-day competition.  At the end of the day, the Delaware County Tactical Unit was crowned the champion.  Brunswick SWAT finished in second place, while CCNO's SRT team placed third.  Regardless of placement, the competition gave each team the opportunity to see how they stacked up against other teams from across the state.

The 2002 tactical team competition is tentatively scheduled for the latter part of September.  Any teams interested in participating should contact CCNO SRT Commander Craig Eiden at (419) 428-3800 extension 203.

During and after the competition, we received a large number of compliments on the quality of the competition.  Below are just a few of the responses received.

From Findlay Police Department:  "I would like to take a moment and let you know that the Findlay Police Department Emergency Response Team greatly enjoyed the SWAT competition conducted by your agency.  I have received positive comments from our team members about the competition.  It was a valuable learning experience.  I hope you will keep us in mind next year."

From Delaware Tactical Unit:  "I just wanted to take a second and thank you for the opportunity to complete in your SWAT competition.  Our team members all commented on the friendliness of your staff and their eagerness to make sure we enjoyed the competition.  I believe it was a positive learning experience and intend on making it a regular part of our training."

From Brunswick Police Department CERT:  "The competition was excellent.  It was obvious that a lot of time and preparation went into it, and there is no way that we (CERT) could have done a better job!  We had a great time! We very much enjoyed feeling welcome and the camaraderie."

Medina County SWAT noted: "I have attended several competitions over the years and this was the best I've seen."
