FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Overcrowding Emergency Cancellation

DECEMBER 12, 2006

Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio were open to all jurisdictions as of Tuesday morning.

This morning’s population count stood at 581, down from 604 on Monday and 617 on Saturday.

Doors had been closed to the City of Toledo and Lucas County over the weekend due to both jurisdictions exceeding their allocation numbers.

It was the 12th time this year that jail doors have been closed due to peak population numbers.

When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610 for one day, it results in closing the doors to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations.  In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
