Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 14, 2006
Jail doors were opened early Monday afternoon at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio after an overcrowding emergency had been declared over the weekend.
This morning’s count stood at 591 or 92 percent. Defiance County stood at 59 or 95 percent; Fulton County at 37 or 74 percent; Henry County at 27 or 69 percent; Lucas County at 191 or 97 percent; Toledo at 235 or 96 percent; and Williams County at 42 or 84 percent.
Jail doors had earlier been closed to Lucas County and Defiance County due peak population numbers.
It was the tenth time that an overcrowding emergency had been declared at CCNO during 2006.
When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610 for one day, it results in closing the doors to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
