Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OCTOBER 12, 2007
Population figures continue to climb as the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio enters a fourth weekend where overcrowding remains a major concern.
CCNO’s population stood at 608 or 94.7 percent as of Friday morning. Four jurisdictions – Defiance, Henry and Lucas counties as well as the City of Toledo – have populations at 90 percent or higher. All were issued notice that they were limited to the number of new offenders allowed.
The City of Toledo’s population stood at 242.5 or 99 percent and will be limited to 1.5 offenders. Lucas County stood at 192.5 or 97 percent and is limited to 5.5. Defiance County is at 59 or 95 percent and limited to three. Henry County stands at 35.5 or 93 percent and is limited to 2.5. Williams County was at 40.5 or 81 percent. Fulton County was at 38 or 76 percent.
When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610, jail doors will be closed to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations.
CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status when the inmate population reaches 95 percent. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
