Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio offered a lending hand by accepting inmates from the flooded Hancock County jail late Wednesday afternoon.
Some 41 inmates, to include eight females, were transported to a pick up location in dump trucks to be transferred by CCNO. Six CCNO staff members drove a 48-passenger CCNO bus and a large van to Hancock County to accept the inmates.
Once they arrived at CCNO, each Hancock County inmate was booked and processed, screened by medical and classification staff, and then provided CCNO uniforms before being escorted to an appropriate housing unit.
Jim Dennis, CCNO Executive Director, said CCNO had its lowest overall population for some time on Wednesday – standing at 572 – making it a viable opportunity to extend a helping hand to another jail. Lt. Ryan Kidwell, Hancock County Jail Administrator asked for help and we weren’t about to say no. Some day CCNO could be in a similar situation and we will need to ask for help. I am unaware if any other jails are assisting Hancock County. The Hancock County inmates came with the clothes on their backs. For security reasons we chose not to notify the media until the Hancock County inmates were at CCNO.
The Hancock County jail inmates are expected to stay at CCNO for up to the next three days if necessary. CCNO is being reimbursed for each inmate housed.
Friends or relatives of Hancock County jail inmates who are housed at CCNO may access the internet at www.ccnoregionaljail.com for information about CCNO and to verify if someone is here. The website will be updated by 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning.
