Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio remained closed over the weekend to two jurisdictions as the overall population peaked to 621 or 97 percent.
Jail doors were closed again to Defiance County on Sunday as its count rose to 66.5 or 107 percent. This morning’s count stood at 67 or 108 percent. Doors had been briefly closed on Friday to Defiance County when it exceeded its allocation numbers but they were able to release four offenders to reduce numbers on that day.
Doors remain closed to the City of Toledo during the entire weekend. It’s population peaked to 262 or 107 percent on Friday. On Sunday, it’s allocation numbers stood at 257.5 or 105 percent. This morning’s count was at 252.5 or 103 percent.
This morning’s overall population count stood at 611 or 95 percent. Other jurisdictional counts stood at 40.5 or 81 percent for Fulton County; 26.5 or 70 percent for Henry County; 179 or 90 percent for Lucas County; and 45.5 or 91 percent for Williams County.
It was the 15th overcrowding emergency to be declared at CCNO in 2007.
CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status when the inmate population reaches 95 percent. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
