Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio were opened to all jurisdictions after being closed for three days to the City of Toledo.

Jail doors had been closed Saturday to the City of Toledo when its population climbed to 266.5 or 109 percent.  The overall population peaked to 619 or 96.4 percent.

Monday morning’s count for the City of Toledo stood at 107 percent followed by Williams County at 92 percent; Defiance County at 91 percent; Lucas County at 87 percent; Fulton County at 81 percent; and Henry County at 58 percent.  Overall population totaled 603 or 94 percent.

Jail doors were open this morning (Tuesday) to the City of Toledo when the overall population dropped to 578 or 89 percent.

It was the 14th overcrowding emergency to be declared at CCNO in 2007.

CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status when the inmate population reaches 95 percent.  In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
