Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
JUNE 27, 2008
Pleas were made to area judges to reduce the number of offenders being sent to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio as the facility nears overcrowding conditions.
Jim Dennis, CCNO Executive Director, advised area judges that this morning’s population at CCNO stood at 598 or 94 percent. When the population reaches 606 or 95 percent, sheriffs and judges will be notified that jail doors are closed.
This morning’s population stood at 53 or 85 percent for Defiance County; 32 or 65 percent for Fulton County; 32 or 89 percent for Henry County; 183.5 or 93 percent for Lucas County; 261 or 107 percent for the City of Toledo; and 36.5 or 73 percent for Williams County.
Officials with the City of Toledo were advised that it was exceeding its bed allocation numbers and were asked to consider any releases in an effort to avoid an overcrowding emergency.
CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status when the inmate population reaches 95 percent or 606. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
