Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JUNE 18, 2007
Jail doors were closed over the weekend at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio to two jurisdictions due to overcrowding.
Jail doors were closed Saturday to the City of Toledo and Fulton County. Toledo peaked with a population of 263.8 or 108 percent. Fulton County’s population stood at 52 or 104 percent. Overall population numbers totaled 620 or 97 percent.
As of Monday morning, jail doors remained closed to the City of Toledo but were reopened to Fulton County. Jurisdiction counts stood at 55.8 or 90 percent for Defiance County; 50 or 100 percent for Fulton County; 30.5 or 80 percent for Henry County; 175.3 or 86 percent for Lucas County; 254.8 or 104 percent for the City of Toledo; and 38.5 or 77 percent for Williams County. Overall numbers stood at 605 or 94 percent.
This was the 13th overcrowding emergency to be declared at CCNO in 2007.
CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status
when the inmate population reaches 95 percent. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
