FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Overcrowding Emergency Cancellation

APRIL 2, 2007

Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio were opened to all jurisdictions as a result of projected releases.  The overcrowding emergency was lifted at 4:00 p.m. Monday.

Jail doors had been closed to Fulton County and the City of Toledo as both jurisdictions exceeded their allotted beds while the overall population peaked to 611 on Saturday.

This was the eighth overcrowding emergency to be declared at CCNO this year.

CCNO policy allows the executive director to place the facility in an emergency status

when the inmate population reaches 95 percent.  In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
