Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 2, 2007
Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio were closed to two jurisdictions over the weekend.
Jail doors were closed Saturday to the City of Toledo when its population count climbed to 251 or 103 percent. CCNO’s total population stood at 611 or 95 percent.
The overcrowding emergency was extended to Fulton County when its population peaked to 52 or 104 percent Monday morning. The entire facility had a population of 604 or 94 percent.
Both jurisdictions must drop their population to 90 percent or CCNO’s overall population must drop to 578 or 90 percent before the jail doors are opened.
There have now been eight overcrowding emergencies declared in 2007. There were 13 overcrowding emergencies declared in 2006 with the next highest being six in 2004.
When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610 for one day, it results in closing the doors to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
