Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JANUARY 30, 2007
Jail doors were opened to all jurisdictions late Monday evening at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
Doors had been closed since Saturday to the City of Toledo when its population count stood at 249 or 102 percent. The overall population at CCNO stood at 616 or 96 percent.
As of 5:30 p.m. Monday, all doors were opened based on a population of 574. This morning’s count stood at 590.
It was the fourth overcrowding emergency declared in 2007. There were 13 overcrowding emergencies declared in 2006 with the next highest being six in 2004.
When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610 for one day, it results in closing the doors to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
