Welcome to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JANUARY 19, 2007
Jail doors at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio were closed this morning to Defiance County and the City of Toledo as the population continues to climb for the third weekend in a row.
Jail doors were closed this morning to the City of Toledo with its population count standing at 275.5 or 113 percent.
Doors were also closed to Defiance County with a population count of 64.5 or 104 percent.
Lucas County’s population stood at 180.5 or 91 percent followed by Fulton County at 39.5 or 79 percent; Henry County at 27.5 or 72 percent and Williams County at 30.5 or 61 percent.
It was the third weekend in a row in 2007 for doors to be closed to the City of Toledo. It was the first time for Defiance County. There have now been three overcrowding emergencies declared in 2007. There were 13 overcrowded emergencies declared in 2006 with the next highest being six in 2004.
When CCNO reaches 95 percent or 610 for one day, it results in closing the doors to those jurisdictions exceeding their allocations. In addition, those jurisdictions with inmate populations above 90 percent are asked to consider granting early releases for eligible inmates.
